Welcome to our Tips for Summer Survival …

Summer/Christmas in Qld is certainly a time when we become a lot more aware of being thirsty & dehydrated & also the need to balance the end of year parties & excesses of the holiday season,. Maybe even consider a New Year cleanse & detox? Here are some tips to help you through:

Water Ain't  Water ?...

Did you know that naturally alkaline mineral waters are quality waters that are great for balancing excess food and acidity in the body?

They are natural waters that are alkaline with a pH above 7.2 …

So What’s Missing in our Aussie waters?

....natural bicarbonates  (NaHCO3) like in Life Energy water - high in  bicarbonates that seem to balance, aid digestion and buffer acidity in the body.
We have had many customers report that alkalizing with water  has helped in many ways with their acid reflux.
  • Alkaline mineral waters usually carry a negative ORP electrical charge. This means that they seem to be able to get deeply into the tissues at cellular level and hydrate, balance and detox you quickly
  • Whereas supermarket, popular spring waters may be pH neutral to acidic and processed, chemicalised, fluoridated tap water is acidic at a pH around 6.4… Have you ever drunk heaps of tap water on a really hot day and still been thirsty? much do you absorb?
  • Alkaline mineral waters are great for a overindulgence & that next day ‘hangover’ too…buffering acidity you will feel better, faster.
  •  Enhanced and vitamin waters may be very high in sugars.
  • Many people over the years have tested their tank water and been surprised to find it acidic…believing with rainwater it must be pure… unfortunately due to pollution and acid rain this is usually not the case and they find their water quite acidic…over time this seems to leach the alkaline minerals from the body…possibly leading to sore joints, stiffness, arthritis symptoms and health issues.
Something to Consider…“Don’t Drink Yourself Fat…”

…”It’s hard to overeat without noticing it. By contrast soda and other sugar-sweetened beverages can sneak up on you adding hundreds of calories to your diet each day without filling you up…In a new effort to highlight the health impact of sweetened drinks, the Health Dept is confronting New Yorkers with a bold question…Are you pouring on the

Water - Essential for Life
  • Your body is over two-thirds water, and if the amount of water in your body is reduced by 1-2% …you feel thirsty.
  • Water regulates body temp and removes waste.
  • Your blood is approx 83% water, brain is approx 75% water, muscles 75% and bones 22% water.
  • Water carries oxygen and essential nutrients to all cells in the body and helps to convert food into energy.
  • Water protects and cushions vital organs and joints.
  • Headaches and dizziness may be a sign of mild dehydration
  • Listen to your Thirst - and Drink Water Instead!
How much fluid should I drink to keep my kidneys healthy?

The human body can last weeks without food, but only days without fluid.  It has no way to store the fluid it needs to replenish the blood in order to replenish…and to make up for losses from lungs, skin, urine and faeces.
Fluid regulates the body’s temperature through perspiration, the kidney removes waste via urine, & carries nutrients and other substances throughout the body.  Fresh supplies of fluid are needed every day, however, there is no set amount to drink .
Drink to satisfy thirst is a good guide. The desirable amount of water to drink each day has been promoted…in recent years to be 8 glasses of 8oz (= 240 ml) each 24-hour period.   This view had in the past been publicised by water authorities & water manufacturers, with endorsement of this view by Kidney Health Australia.
Though no single formula fits everyone…the amount of fluid you need to drink depends on your size, activity level & the weather. The best way of knowing how much to drink is to drink enough to satisfy your thirst.

On average food provides about 20 percent of total water intake, while the remaining 80 percent comes from water and beverages of all kinds…eg. many fruits and vegetables — such as watermelon & cucumbers — are nearly 100 percent water by weight.  Beverages such as milk and juice are also comprised mostly of water… Fresh fruit is preferable to fruit juice because it has more fibre and nutrients and less sugar…
Healthy Tips:
  • Sweet drinks should be limited as they add calories without nutrient value. Caffeine or alcohol may cause or worsen health related problems & should be avoided except in modest quantities.
  • Keep a jug of quality water in the fridge… Ask for a bottle of water for your table when dining out
  • Drink one for one - a glass of water to an alcoholic drink
  • Add lemon, lime or orange to add zest to your water –alkalising
  • Try substituting a second cup of coffee or tea, with a glass of water. Take a bottle of water with you on the go, especially when travelling Suck on ice-cubes in hot weather
